Blowdry

A blow dry is the basis of a lot of beauty hairstyles, it lifts the hair at the roots to add volume.

For a complete blowdry you will need

Hairdryer
Round Blowdry Brush
Denman Brush
Pintail Comb
Mousse

If you have washed the hair beforehand, make sure to blast the hair with a hairdryer until it is simply damp. Only the remaining 10% of moisture changes the shape of hair. You need to work quickly when doing a blow dry because the more heat you add to the hair the more damage you may cause.

Rub mousse into the root of the hair before blow dry and to add more volume and hold.

Start from the bottom, working your way up to the top of the head. Take note of the parting, with side or middle partings, do one side then the other in opposite directions, if there is no parting, simply blowdry the hair away from the face and in a backwards direction away from the face.

Use the hairdryer to assist you, don't put it down as it will take longer. Use a high heat and high power, but keep moving the hairdryer so you do not burn your client.

Section in thin straight sections. Start at the root of the hair, working down past the lengths to the tip. Always pull upwards, to ensure you get a lift at the root of the hair. Aim hairdryer above and below the section of hair.

When moving onto the next section of hair, do not comb through or touch the section you have just done, let it set. If you tug on it whilst it is still hot, it will loose the shape.

My model today had long thick waist length hair which makes it harder to blow dry, but a little volume was still created, unfortunately, I did not get to finish a whole head of hair.
